SMP, or Scalp Micro-pigmentation, is a non-surgical treatment method that is suitable for all types and stages of hair loss in both men and women. The process helps in the replication of the natural appearance of the real hair follicles to obtain a realistic and natural-looking hairline. It is essentially a method of depositing pigment into the dermal layer of the skin on the scalp, giving illusions of hair follicles, with the appearance of a recently shaved head. SMP is colour-matched on a greyscale for most clients and can be used to treat clients of very pale complexion to extremely dark skin tones. The process takes at least 2-3 sessions spaced across one to four weeks, with the results being visible immediately after the first touch. The SMP treatment lasts as long as 2-3 years before you need a retouch.

The SMP is applied to both the scalp region with no hair or thinning hair to achieve a natural-looking hairline.

It can also be used for eyebrow hairloss treatment where the pigments are placed either between the existing eyebrow hair or on hairless skin in the eyebrow region. This will lead to an instant high-density eyebrow simulation.

The SMP technique can also be used to hide scars that were received in the previous hair transplant processes such as that of the strip in FUT. The scar generally left from the region of extraction can be concealed using the SMP technique where the pigments are inserted under the skin where the strip lies.
